Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is Dead
CNN is reporting that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died.
The court announced that she passed due to complications of metastatic pancreas cancer.
She was 87 years old.
Ginsburg was appointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton.
In recent years served as the most senior member of the court's liberal wing.
She consistently delivering progressive votes on the most divisive social issues of the day.
She was instrumental in protecting abortion rights, same-sex marriage, voting rights, immigration, health care and affirmative action.
"Our Nation has lost a jurist of historic stature," said Chief Justice John Roberts.
President Donald Trump and the Republican controlled senate now have less than 50 days to confirm a new justice before the November 3rd election.
