Performances and exhibitions to enjoy during the weekend; mega-hit musicals such as 'Cats' and 'Kinky Boots'

It's Friday and we are back with our 'Life with Culture' segment, letting us know all about the performances we can enjoy this weekend. Bo-kyoung, with social distancing measures starting to loosen up, Lots of people will be looking forward to enjoying some culture, even if they have to wear a mask.
That's right Conn-young,... and I'm glad to let you know which mega-hit musicals are on at the moment. Known as one of the "big four" musicals along with 'Les Miserables,' 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'Miss Saigon',... 'Cats' has come back to South Korea ready to mesmerize the audience. As well as that, we have the feel-good hit musical 'Kinky Boots'. Let's take a look at both of them.
The song 'Memory' by a cat that used to be glamorous but has fallen on hard times touches listeners' hearts.
A great performance with powerful music lets us forget about these tiring times.
“One of the world's best-known musicals ‘Cats’ has returned to South Korea to mark the 40th anniversary of its debut. The international tour production has found ways to adapt to the pandemic.”
Unlike other productions that are selling tickets with every other seat apart,... this show sells tickets in pairs then asks ticket buyers to move seats so they leave a seat between them and the other members of the audience.
This way, once social distancing measures loosen, those who want to attend with their friend or partner won't end up being stuck next to a stranger.
"Also, there are scenes where the actors inevitably need to go across the audience seats. We made make-up masks for them to wear when they pass next to members of the audience."
These efforts allow fans to enjoy the musical without having to worry about the virus.
Another big show worth taking a look at is 'Kinky Boots'.
Based on a true story, it shows how struggling shoe factory owner Charlie teams up with drag queen Lola to make "kinky boots", 80-centimeter high-heeled boots for men.
"At the end of the first act, there's a song titled 'Everybody say Yeah'. Everyone in the factory sings the song in rejoice after finally succeeding in making the Kinky Boots. Another song that might lift people's moods is 'Raise you up'. The lyrics say 'I will be next to you when you are having difficult times.' Such soothing lyrics might give the audience more energy."
As meeting the actors is difficult amid COVID-19, visitors can instead meet their 360-degree AR doppelgangers,... who pose for pictures and even dance with fans.

After the touring production's original show in Seoul last year, a local troupe will perform the show for the first time. It is set in the time of William Shakespeare and features scenes from hit musicals such as 'Cats'.
