Laxmi Vilas Palace, the most luxurious hotel in Udaipur, was sold by the Vajpayee government's disinvestment ministry in 2004 to the Lalit Group, disinvesting only 7.5 crore. There was a lot of uproar in Udaipur because of this, because everyone was surprised at the price of such a big hotel. The same CBI, after investigation, filed a closure report saying nothing was found in it, but the court refused to accept it.
