Bayern Munich's star striker, Robert Lewandowski, thanked his fans on Tuesday for backing him to win the 2020 Ballon D'Or, with one petition calling for the reversal of the decision to cancel the 2020 Ballon D'Or and another calling for the 2020 Ballon D'Or be awarded to him after a stellar performance last season that culminated in lifting his first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy.

"To win the Ballon D'Or is for every player a dream ... I think every player who won what we won or scored so many goals how I scored the goals should be in the Ballon D'Or yeah and maybe win this Ballon D'Or," said Lewandowski.

"Amazing if I see so many people and not only fans seeing what I did in this season. This is something for me beautiful," he added. Lewandowski has been for many the best player in the world in his position, and he knew he has to be "not like everyone else," in the position "to be the best."The 32-year-old admitted that he and Bayern Munich would have to "work harder to stay longer on the top," after such an "impressive" last season.

He anticipated that he would play for "five or six years more" and did not rule out a move to Major League Soccer when asked if he would.
