Record-breaking fires continue to ravage Brazil's Pantanal region, with biologists warning the fires are threatening one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
A state of emergency has been declared in one of the mid-western states of Brazil on Monday, which will be in place for 90 days.
According to the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research, more than 14-thousand fires have been reported in the Pantanal region so far this year.
This is nearly three-fold from the same period last year, which saw less than 5-thousand fires.
