The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the different threats to Dinagat Islands’ biodiversity. Even prior the pandemic, the province has long been embroiled in a delicate dance between economics and the fight for conservation.

Despite the challenges, the province hopes more conservation areas will be established as it moves to turn the island province from a mining reserve into an environmental haven.
