Seoul's First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-kun is on his way to Washington to meet his U.S. counterpart.
The vice foreign minister departed this morning and will meet Stephen Biegun on Thursday.
The two are likely to discuss the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, stalled defense cost-sharing negotiations, South Korea joining the G7 Summit,... and the rising tensions between the U.S. and China.
Here's what the vice minister had to say.
"We have our mutual concerns. We will share views on the peace process on the Korean Peninsula and other bilateral issues which the two countries have been working on for the past three years,... as well as how we're going to work from now on."
It will be their first face-to-face meeting since Choi took office last month.
