Superstitious locals flock a Thai Buddhist temple celebration that is believed to bring good luck and fortune.

Footage shows people entering the Sanam Chai temple in Ang Thong Province to pay homage and pray on September6.

The celebration is marked by men setting off colourful firecrackers in the air and bustling sidewalks with vendors selling lucky charms.

The temple is believed to be a source of luck so most visitors buy lottery tickets outside after praying and burning incense sticks.

Aside from popular superstitious beliefs associated with the temple, it is also regarded as a cultural gem in the country.

A number of ceramic plates from China decorate the front entrance which monks believe to have originated from the ancient Ayutthaya period.
