South Korea's ruling party is vowing to win the fight against COVID-19 and prepare for the post-pandemic future, but urging bipartisanship.
In a policy speech Monday, the party's floor leader Lee Nak-yon said the country should prepare as one for a generation of great transformation.
He emphasized the need for a safety net to protect the most vulnerable in society, the development of new industries and the Korean New Deal as well as balanced development.
Noting how COVID-19 has hit the vulnerable the hardest, Lee said they must be the first to receive the second emergency benefit, ideally before the end of September.
Lee urged cooperation from the opposition party, offering to resume regular talks between the two sides.
