Eastern Cape - The stock theft capital

Instead of recovering financially as lockdown regulations eased. Farmers are taking strain. Stock theft is spiking during level two of the lockdown. This is according to the Stock Theft Prevention Forum. The Eastern Cape continues to be the country's stock theft capital after recording nearly 7,000 cases last year alone. Farmers say stock theft is not treated as a serious crime and many perpetrators are set free soon after they have been arrested.
