U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper and his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono met on Saturday local time at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, where they agreed to work together on security issues in East Asia.
According to Japan's Kyodo News Agency,... they agreed that it is important to fully abide by the United Nations Security Council's sanctions to end North Korea's development of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles.
Regarding territorial disputes in East and South China Sea, Esper said the U.S. opposes what he called China's destabilizing activities,... and they both said they will respond firmly to any unilateral attempt to change to the status quo by force.
