A towboat on Lake Charles in Louisiana recorded wind speeds of 137 miles per hour on Thursday (August 27th).

Footage shows the vessel being battered by wind and rain before crewmember Kyle Ricks turns the camera on the wind speed monitor which at one point hits the 137 mark.

Fourteen people are now confirmed dead in the United States after the hurricane battered southern states.

Ten of the victims were in Louisiana and four in Texas.

According to the "Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale", sustained winds of 137 miles per hour would be a Category 4 hurricane likely to produce "catastrophic damage."
