FITA drops tobacco ban legal challenge

The Fair-Trade Independent Tobacco Association has confirmed it is in the process of seeking a settlement with the government and Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma – effectively ending its legal challenge against the much contested and debated cigarette ban. The parties have also been in touch with President Cyril Ramaphosa. The cigarette ban ended last week, as South Africa moved to Level 2 of lockdown. Sinehlanhla Mguni, is the chairperson for the Association, discusses this.
