वाराणसी के सारनाथ में स्थित दीनापुर सीवरेज ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट में शनिवार शाम को क्लोरीन गैस का रिसाव होने से अफरा तफरी मच गई। गैस के प्रभाव के कारण आसपास के लोगों का दम घुटने लगा। मामले की जानकारी जब जलनिगम के बड़े अधिकारियों को हुई तो उन्होंने आनन-फानन में एनडीआरएफ को मौके पर बुला लिया। इधर, उसी समय बारिश हो जाने से क्लोरीन का प्रभाव हवा में कम भी हो गया।
