Artist recreates lifelike portraits of celebrities with paint

Safeyah Aljabouri is an artist from Manchester who's popular for her portraits or celebrities. She works in realism, and her material of choice is oil paint. Safeyah's process is to work from dark to light, starting with the shadows, hair, and dark parts under the chin. She uses this technique because it's easier to layer light colors over dark ones without it becoming muddy. Adding details and highlights pulls all the pieces together. To lock everything in, she finishes each portrait with varnish or a glitter and resin mixture.
