China opened the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing on Wednesday with President Xi Jinping's speech outlining his plans for the next five years. The congress will end on Oct 24 with the selection of a new Politburo Standing Committee that will rule China's 1.4 billion people for the next half-decade.
