The Government aims to raise the production of the much sought after Bentong ginger to reduce imports.

Currently, Malaysia imports about 30,000 tonnes of ginger from India, Thailand and China.

13,000 tonnes of ginger is produced locally with more than half of that beieng grown from Bukit Tinggi.
