Tun M welcomes report of Jho Low's alleged arrest
  • 4 years ago
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday welcomed a report by a Hong Kong radio station that claimed Malaysian financier, Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, had fled back from Hong Kong into China, where he has now been detained pending Dr Mahathir’s visit next month. Although Malaysia and China have no treaty on extradition, he said it doesn't mean China cannot hand him over. Jho Low is wanted in connection with the multi-billion-dollar graft scandal at 1MDB. The Premier also commented on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR), saying that it is too costly to terminate the project and the government is looking at having it deferred.
