Ecuador’s navy monitors hundreds of Chinese fishing boats near protected waters off Galapagos

A huge fleet of about 340 Chinese fishing vessels is operating just outside the protected waters of the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. The Ecuadorean navy has been monitoring the Chinese vessels. The navy conducted a patrol mission on August 7, 2020, amid concerns about the environmental impact of fishing near the ecologically sensitive islands.
