Staying with those numbers, Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, says the rate of coronavirus infections in South Africa is much lower than government had predicted. He says the early lockdown delayed the surge of infections in most provinces, except the Western Cape. Mkhize also says his department will work with the President and the Finance Department in rooting out COVID-19 corruption. He says no one is allowed to take advantage of government to try and profit off the pandemic. Mkhize says his department will ensure tenders are legal, and that all PPE provided to hospitals is of high quality.
