Meet Ali Salman Anchan, founder and Executive Director of Phool Patti, an independent social enterprise company working to promote Pakistani Truck Art around the world. Phool Patti, literally meaning ‘flowers and leaves’ is committed to the preservation of this unique indigenous art form.
Truck Art is an art form that originated in Pakistan. It features unique styles and designs that bring beauty to commercial trucks. Trucker drivers invest a great deal of time in making sure that their trucks are the best decorated. Phool Patti, is not only used on trucks, but can also be found in museum exhibitions, art galleries, home décor, fashion and gift items.
Ali was always interested in fine art and loved drawing and painting. As a child he would go to the places where artists painted cinema posters. He was fascinated by the indigenous art forms, the colours, intricate designs and motifs since his childhood.
Phool Patti’s aim is to promote this art around the world and make people aware of its uniqueness and practicality. They hold exhibitions to introduce this indigenous Pakistani art form and conduct classes globally so that people living in other countries can learn this unique art work.
Phool Patti’s efforts to promote this unique art form have been recognised nationally and internationally. They have received many awards and certificates including Aga Khan Golden Jubilee award, Ambassador of Peace award, Pakistan Switzerland friendship Award and many more.
Phool Patti Team has worked tirelessly to promote cultural harmony by traveling around different parts of the world like USA, England, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, India, China, Kazakhstan and many more with a message of love and peace in their own unique, colourful and artistic way.
