Typhoon Hagupit hits China’s eastern coastal areas causing floods and forcing evacuations

Typhoon Hagupit landed on the east coast of China in the early hours of August 4, 2020, bringing heavy rains and floods to the region. Around 381,000 people had to be evacuated from affected areas in Zhejiang province. The typhoon was heading north towards the financial hub of Shanghai, and was expected to move back toward the sea in an easterly direction.
