Leaders fight, residents struggle
The old African proverb says, when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. And, this seems to be the case in the uMkhanyakude District Municipality in KZN. Infighting and corruption has brought it to its knees. With irregular expenditure of about R50 million, and a municipal manager and mayor at each others throats, very little services are being delivered. Residents say they do not even have access to water.
