China has successfully tested an unmanned aerial vehicle that uses home-grown technology to monitor typhoons. The drone took off from the Boao Airport in Qionghai city in the southern province of Hainan province on August 2, 2020, to observe tropical storm Sinlaku. China says the flight was the nation’s first successful typhoon observation test using the large drone.
