Good morning to our viewers across the globe, you're watching Arirang's 'The World Now'. I'm Kim Jae-hee.
Spain's former king, Juan Carlos, has reportedly left the country, following corruption allegations about him in the recent weeks.
Spain's Royal House on Monday, published a letter the former king sent to his son, King Felipe, to inform him of his decision to move abroad.
Juan Carlos, in the letter, said he made the decision in the wake of the "public repercussions of certain episodes" of his past private life.
He also added he had made the decision to help his son exercise his responsibilities as king.
The letter failed to mention the when he would leave Spain, nor name the specific country he would go to.
But after the publication, CNN cited the Royal Household spokesperson saying the former monarch has already left, but declined to say where he went.
This comes after the Spanish Supreme Court had opened an investigation in June, into Juan Carlos' involvement in a high-speed rail contract in Saudi Arabia, under allegations that Carlos received millions dollars from the late Saudi King.
The news of him leaving was met with disapproval by some in Madrid.
"His mandate has already ended, he is now retired. So I think that he is escaping from his responsibilities at this moment. Who is now left? King Felipe, who now has all the weight on his shoulders."
Some local residents said it's best for Carlos to leave.
"We all comment about the King (Juan Carlos I) and the money, its better that he just goes. The truth is that he hasn't been giving a very good image of Spain."
