Patriots News: Matthew Slater Debated Opting Out of 2020 NFL Season

Half a dozen New England Patriots players opted out of the 2020 NFL season earlier this week, but apparently it could've been more. Special teams captain, Matthew Slater, was reportedly debating whether or not he'd be playing in the upcoming season. ESPN's Ian Rapoport spoke to the Patriots veteran who said, "It was a tough decision, but I will be playing."

The 34-year-old is a foundational piece of the franchise and respected among his teammates. His decision to play may lead to other players questioning their decisions to do the same.
