Thailand has been hailed for its success containing the coronavirus outbreak, but its economic outlook is now one of the darkest in Asia. As of July 27, 2020, hundreds of businesses were closed along Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok’s once-busy tourist district, casualties of the way the Covid-19 pandemic has brought global tourism to a standstill.
