The Brazilian government is aiming to take down the country's largest criminal gang.
Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security said Tuesday that an operation is underway, targeting the criminal network PCC.
The operation was carried out in eleven states with some one thousand police officers carrying out more than two hundred searches and arrests warrants.
PCC first emerged from prisons of Sao Paulo in the early 1990's.
It soon evolved into a large organization, specializing in drug trafficking.
Currently, PCC is estimated to have tens of thousands of members.
