South Korea and the United States have agreed to go ahead with their annual large-scale combined military excercise next month,... despite the pandemic, by scaling it down.
South Korean military officials say the allies agreed to downsize it because the U.S. won't be able to send units to Korea from abroad.
The exercise will focus in part on Seoul's ability to exercise wartime operational control, which it is expected to do eventually.
The Moon administration wants to have operational control by 2022.
The exercise is to be held from mid-August for two weeks.
