Talking about many inventions of time and centuries ago, India means a lot to the world. India has always been one step ahead of the Western world; Be it science, mathematics, medical science or archaeological mastery. We picked up 20 such interesting findings out of a whole bunch that will make you go, “I didn’t know that”.

-The Indians started cultivating cotton back in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C.
-The button, in fact, was originally used more as an ornament than as a fastening, the earliest known being found at Mohenjo-daro in the Indus Valley. It is made of a curved shell and about 5000 years old.
-Chess originated from Chaturanga, and it was a strategic board game popular during the Gupta Empire, around the 6th century AD.
-Scales were first used by the Indus Valley Civilization prior to 1500 BCE. Made of ivory, the scales found during excavation, reveal the amazing accuracy of decimal subdivisions on it.
-Aryabhata, an Indian genius of math and astronomy, invented the “zero” as a symbol to represent “nothing” in the fifth century A.D.
-The word shampoo is derived from Hindi word chāmpo. Shampoo was invented in India in 1762 and was originally used for head massages.
-Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose presented his discovery of radio communication waves to the public in 1895.
-Ajay Bhatt came up with the idea of a universal port for devices as he was putting an SD card into his computer in the 1990s.
-In the 6th Century B.C., an Indian physician named Sushruta described the use of hundreds of medicinal plants and instructions for performing surgical procedures like Cataract Surgery, Plastic Surgery in his reference book, "Sushrutasamhita".
-The invention of manufacture of cane sugar granules from sugarcane juice in India a little over two thousand years ago, followed by improvements in refining the crystal granules in India in the early centuries AD.
