Floods threatening Wuhan in latest challenge for Chinese city at first epicentre of pandemic

Located on the banks of China's rain-swollen Yangtze River, the city of Wuhan went on high alert on July 17, 2020, amid fears that surrounding waterways and lakes will rise and cause flooding. People in the central Chinese city where the coronavirus first emerged late last year, are now being warned to take precautions for another challenge, as water levels rapidly approached the highest levels that are considered safe.
