Naseem Bano enlisted the help of neighbor Dilip Kumar and asked him to explain to Saira Bano so that he could stop pursuing Rajendra Kumar. Dilip Kumar did this work because he did not even know much about Saira and the wedding was not even intended.
When Dilip Sahab explained to Saira that marriage with Rajendra meant living a whole life as a other women and suffering, then Saira turned back and asked Dilip Sahab if he would marry her? Unsure of the question, Dilip could not give any answer at that time. But on October 11, 1966, at the age of 44, he got married to twenty five year old Saira.
