As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to fluctuate, the South Korean government has shifted its focus to restaurants across the nation.
From wearing gloves and masks in buffet restaurants to using QR codes in entertainment facilities, our Choi Won-jong has the details of the new COVID-19 guidelines.
Things will look a little different in South Korean restaurants... after the government announced a new set of guidelines to prevent COVID-19 cluster infections.
"There was a cluster infection at a buffet restaurant in Bucheon. Also more than 50 people have been infected at many restaurants.
Health authorities have divided restaurants into three different types.
For general restaurants, customers are required to use individual tableware and glasses during shortened meal times...and owners will install partitions at each table.
But when it comes to large gatherings, groups are required to dine at allocated meal times to prevent overcrowding.
They are also asked to sit on one side of the table, or in alternating seats, if they are facing each other. .
However, if customers are dining at a buffet style restaurant, wearing face masks is a must... when they are not eating and while waiting in line.
When using utensils, customers need to wear gloves or sanitize their hands.
Meanwhile, for entertainment facilities, health officials are enforcing a different set of COVID-19 guidelines.
To track customers in the event of further COVID-19 transmissions, all visitors will be required to scan a QR code before entering to share their personal data.
Health authorities added that they will conduct on-site inspections to make sure entertainment venues are following the guidelines.
