The sky turned dark as a massive sandstorm engulfed a city in northwestern India's Rajasthan on June 25.

According to local reports in Nagaur, before the massive sandstorm towering clouds of dust with strong winds gusting at 70 kilometres per hour (43 miles per hour) eerily floated above the city.

The video shows massive clouds of dust sweeping towards the city.

Stating the reason for the sudden storm, the Indian Meteorological Department said that due to the difference in atmospheric pressure of two places on the surface of the Earth, such sandstorms arise.

According to sources, the Indian Meteorological Department had alerted the area for heavy rainfall with the onset of monsoon, however, the sandstorm was unexpected.

No casualties have been reported so far, though it is likely to cause respiratory problems for many.

Normal life was affected while road traffic was also chaotic during the episode.
