Kashmir's economy is heavily dependent on tourism, a sector which has been deeply hurt due to cycles of lockdowns, first following the abrogation of Article 370 and now, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Houseboats, that would earlier be filled to capacity in peak tourist season from May to September, are vacant, restaurants are deserted and the people dependent on these services for their livelihoods are struggling to make ends meet.
