A 1,900-year-old pine was discovered by the local forestry bureau in southwest China’s Sichuan province. State media reported that the ancient tree is 18 metres tall, has a girth of 7.5 metres and roots that reach more than 50 metres underground. Local officials said they will designate staffers to protect the area's ancient trees, which they hope can help boost tourism.
