Alex Aaronson Photography’s Advice on Beach Photography

Taking photos or videos at the beach is a great idea. These types of locations offer a lot when it comes to different perspectives, lighting and effects. One of my first photoshoots for the Alex Aaronson Photography blog was on the beach, so I really do understand the appeal of this setting. However, at first, it may be quite challenging to find the best way for making beach photography work for you. If you are only starting out on your photography journey, you need to keep in mind a couple of simple tips that will really help you out in the long run. The first and foremost is to always choose your location wisely! Avoid crowded beaches or super touristy locations- it will be difficult to concentrate there and, also, too many people will make it difficult to get a good landscape photo. Your best bet is to go early in the morning and take as many photos from as many different angles as you can. You will see that most of the photos on the Alex Aaronson Photography blog are sunrise images- that’s because I try to go as early as I can to capture the best photos!

Every photographer knows how important it is to have the right equipment. This is not to say that you need some expensive gear- my first camera that I used for the Alex Aaronson Photography business was one of the cheapest ones on the market. With that said, you have to make a decision on whether you want to invest in something more pricey, especially if you want to take action photos in water, or if you want to create some drone content. The choice is yours! When it comes to beach photography, you can still achieve great results with only your phone camera, however, as time goes by, you will probably want to upgrade.

Since I started the Alex Aaronson Photography freelance business, I get many requests for beach-themed photoshoots. In those cases, I need to carefully think about the concept of the photoshoot and the setting. Talking to your client is very important- make sure your ideas coincide with theirs. Whether you are a fan of the sea and nature or you simply want to take photos at a more exciting setting than the typical park, beach photography is a great thing to try.
