According to Hindu calendar i.e. Panchang, Pradosh Vrat is done on the thirteenth date of every month. In this way it is a fast to be done twice a month. This fast is observed to get the special grace of Lord Shiva. In this, Lord Shiva-Parvati is worshiped during Pradosh period. Pradosh Kaal is the day after sunset i.e. the meeting of day and night. According to Shiva Purana, worship of Lord Shiva at this time eliminates all kinds of defects. According to the texts, the moon was the first to observe Lord Shiva. This time, this fast will be observed on Thursday 18 June.

हिंदू कैलेंडर यानी पंचांग के अनुसार प्रदोष व्रत हर महीने की त्रयोदशी यानी तेरहवीं तिथि को किया जाता है। इस तरह ये महीने में दो बार किया जाने वाला व्रत है। ये व्रत भगवान शिव की विशेष कृपा पाने के लिए किया जाता है। इसमें प्रदोष काल के दौरान भगवान शिव-पार्वती की पूजा की जाती है। सूर्यास्त के बाद यानी दिन और रात के मिलन की घड़ी को प्रदोष काल कहा जाता है। शिव पुराण के अनुसार इस समय भगवान शिव की पूजा से हर तरह के दोष खत्म हो जाते हैं। ग्रंथों के अनुसार चंद्रमा ने सबसे पहले भगवान शिव का ये व्रत किया था। इस बार 18 जून गुरुवार को ये व्रत किया जाएगा।
