Gambhir and Watson had an altercation during the Delhi Test between India and Australia in 2008. Gambhir and Watson shared a heated exchange between them after the former Indian opener collided with the Australian while running for a single. Gambhir seemed to have elbowed Watson in the process but he made it clear it was not intentional. Gambhir was banned for a game after the incident as he was charged for breaching ICC's Code of Conduct by match referee Chris Broad.
