Kevin Pietersen believes Jos Buttler and not official vice-captain Ben Stokes should lead England if Joe Root misses the First Test. Former skipper and top batsman Pietersen says star all-rounder Stokes must be allowed to concentrate on bringing his brand of magic with bat and ball. With the West Indies’ squad landing today in Manchester, the three-Test series behind closed doors now looks a near-certainty to take place. Root, 29, could be forced to hand over the reins for the First Test in Southampton on July 8 because he is attending the birth of his and wife Carrie’s second child early next month.

इंग्लैंड के पूर्व खिलाड़ी केविन पीटरसन क्रिकेट को अलविदा कह चुके हैं. पर आए दिन वो क्रिकेट को हर मसलों पर अपनी राय देते रहते हैं. कई बार विवादित बयान भी केविन पीटरसन दे चुके हैं. जिसकी वजह से बवाल मच चुका है. इस बार केविन पीटरसन ने बेन स्टोक्स को टिपण्णी की है. केविन पीटरसन का मानना है कि स्टोक्स इंग्लैंड की कप्तानी करने के काबिल नहीं हैं. उनकी जगह जोस बटलर से कप्तान के तौर पर बेहतर रहेंगे. पीटरसन ने ‘टॉकस्पोर्ट’ से सवालिया लहजे में कहा, 'क्या मैं बेन स्टोक्स को किसी और भूमिका में देखना चाहता हूं? शायद नहीं, जोस बटलर को मैं कप्तान के लिए पसंद करूंगा' पीटरसन को लगता है कि स्टोक्स को टीम का नेतृत्व करने की जिम्मेदारी देना ठीक नहीं होगा.
