Tony Greig, was one of the most recognisable names in cricketing history. Towering over his teammates at an imposing 6’6″ height, Greig was one of England’s greatest all-rounders, an astute captain, a controversial figure, and later one of the most beloved commentators of the game. Greig was equally proficient with both bat and ball. Moreover, he was able to bowl both medium-pace and off-spin with equal efficiency. He is one of only three English all-rounders with the 3,000 run-100 wicket double.

टोनी ग्रेग, नाम सुनते ही कानों में उनकी शारजाह वाली कमेंट्री गूंज पड़ती है. जब सचिन के चौके और छक्कों पर टोनी ग्रेग चार चाँद लगा रहे थे.ऐसा माना जाता था कि टोनी ग्रेग की कमेंट्री के बिना सचिन की इनिंग्स फींकी लगती थी. और ये बात भी बिलकुल सत्य है. टोनी ग्रेग की कमेंट्री का जादू फैंस के सिर चढ़कर बोला. हालांकि, अब वो इस दुनिया में नहीं हैं. साल 2012 में लंग कैंसर की वजह से उनकी मौत हो गयी. पर टोनी ग्रेग आज भी क्रिकेट में जिंदा है. खैर, बहुत लोग सिर्फ इतना ही जानते हैं कि टोनी ग्रेग कमेंट्री करते थे. पर सच्चाई ये है कि टोनी ग्रेग इंग्लैंड के पूर्व कप्तान थे. उन्होंने इंग्लिश टीम की कप्तानी की थी. और इंग्लैंड के लिए 58 टेस्ट मैच और 22 वनडे मैच भी खेले. बता दें कि आज ही के दिन यानी 8 जून को टोनी ग्रेग ने टेस्ट डेब्यू किया था.
