World Environment Day- A wake up call

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year, and is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. First held in 1974, it has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on emerging from environmental issues to marine pollution, human overpopulation, and global warming, to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. The theme for 2020 is "Celebrate Biodiversity", and will be hosted in Colombia in partnership with Germany.

The world is facing incredibly serious natural resource and environmental challenges: Climate change, fresh water depletion, ocean over-fishing, deforestation, air and water pollution, the struggle to feed a planet of billions. Human activity is causing environmental degradation, which is the deterioration of the environment through depletion of resources such as air, water and soil; the destruction of ecosystems; habitat etc.
Today in order to fight against the Corona pandemic situation whole world is under lock down being confined to the four walls of a room. While all wild life and animals roam freely into the deserted streets in many places in many cities and countries. Time has come to think and judicious use of the Natural resources in a planned way. This years Theme is Biodiversity a complex inter web of so many unique environments provided by the nature for sustenance of so many species of flora and fauna.
