Suresh Raina came in to bat and just held the Punjab bowlers by their neck and smacked them on to the ground. Raina looked like he was playing somewhere else as he just hit every other ball into the stands. Raina scored 87 of just 25 deliveries. He had a strike rate of 348, hitting 12 boundaries and 6 sixes. Some magnificent work by George Bailey in the field meant Raina was walking back to the pavilion but he had done his job. He brought that required run rate from 11 to 9.

आईपीएल इतिहास या टी20 क्रिकेट में सबसे तेज शतक क्रिस गेल के नाम है. महज 30 गेंदों पर आईपीएल में शतक जमाया था. इसके बाद लगा कि कोई इस रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ नहीं पाएगा. हालाँकि, अब तक कोई तोड़ नहीं सका है. पर एक बार मौका बना था. सुरेश रैना इस रिकॉर्ड के नजदीक पहुँच भी गए थे. मगर, 13 रनों से चूक गए. महज 25 गेंदों पर 87 रनों की पारी खेलकर सुरेश रैना आउट हुए. दिलचस्प बात ये है कि जब रैना आउट हुए तो उस वक्त चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स का सातवां ओवर चल रहा था. पारी के 37वे गेंद पर रैना आउट हुए और तब तक स्कोर 100 के करीब पहुँच चुका था.
