On World Bicycle Day, one of the most famous Indian bicycle brands – Atlas Cycles – stopped all operations on Wednesday. Issuing a statement, the company said that was is not in a position to resume manufacturing operations due to financial constraints, and as such, it had decided to close down its Sahibabad unit. The Haryana-based company, which started manufacturing bicycles in 1951, had already closed down two units in 2014 and 2018.

विश्व साइकिल दिवस पर बुधवार को खबर आई कि 69 साल पुरानी एटलस साइकिल कंपनी ने आर्थिक तंगी के कारण फैक्ट्री में काम रोक दिया है। इससे कंपनी के 450 कर्मचारियों के सामने रोजी-रोटी का संकट खड़ा हो गया है। अब ले-ऑफ नोटिस में कंपनी के प्रबंधक ने कहा कि संचालकों के पास फैक्ट्री चलाने के लिए रकम नहीं है। यहां तक कि कच्चा माल खरीदने के भी पैसे नहीं हैं। इसलिए वर्कर्स ले-ऑफ कर लें। इसमें कर्मचारियों को उपस्थिति दर्ज कराकर वापस जाना होता है।
