England fast bowler James Anderson reckons the coronavirus enforced break from the game could extend his career “by a year or two“. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to cancellation or postponement of all sporting events, including international and domestic cricket. The 37-year-old, who last played in January before suffering an injury, is part of the 55-member group that has been asked by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to return to training, ahead of the West Indies Test series.

अगले महीने यानी जुलाई में क्रिकेट फिर से शुरू होने जा रहा है. इंग्लैंड क्रिकेट बोर्ड विंडीज के साथ सीरीज खेलेगी. इसके बाद पाकिस्तान से भी इंग्लैंड को सीरीज खेलनी है. तो ये अच्छी बात है कि कम से कम कुछ तो खेल जगत में शुरू होने जा रहा है. हालांकि, कोरोनावायरस ने कई खिलाड़ियों के करियर को खटाई में डाल दिया है. बढ़ती उम्र के साथ खिलाड़ी रिटायरमेन्ट की दहलीज पर पहुँच चुके हैं. पर इंग्लैंड के महान तेज गेंदबाज जेम्स एंडरसन ने कोरोनावायरस ब्रेक को पॉजिटिव वे में लिया है. उनका मानना है कि इस महामारी में मिले ब्रेक की वजह से अब वो शायद दो साल ज्यादा क्रिकेट खेल पाएंगे. बता दें, जेम्स एंडरसन पिछले साल से चोटिल चल रहे हैं. एशेज सीरीज भी एंडरसन नहीं खेल पाए थे. चोट की वजह से उनका करियर अब प्रभावित हो रहा है, बावजूद इसके फिट होकर ये खिलाड़ी मैदान पर लौटने को तैयार है.
