Karnataka has again suspended incoming transport from neighbouring states to contain the spiralling coronavirus infection in the state. This time the list has five states. No flights, trains or other vehicles will allowed to come to the state from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari today announced a series of austerity measures to reduce the expenses of Raj Bhavan so as to make more resources available for COVID-19 relief measures. The Delhi government on Thursday warned of a possible locust attack and asked authorities to spray insecticides and pesticides on crops, vegetation, gardens and orchards while several states in western and central India struggle to contain the worst attack in nearly three decades. India has moved additional troops along its northern border as it prepares for an extended conflict with neighbhour China, after several rounds of talks failed to ease tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals.
The Supreme Court, which has taken suo motu cognisance of the migrant crisis triggered by Covid-19 lockdown, on Thursday sought clarity on who pays for the train tickets of the stranded migrants so as to ensure that they don’t have to pay for it.
