PH records highest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday said that 539 more people have been stricken by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) – the highest number of cases reported in a single day since the dreaded illness was first detected in January.
With this development, the new number of infections brought the country’s total confirmed cases to 15,588.
Recoveries, meanwhile, jumped to 3,598 as 92 more patients recovered from the illness. The DOH also announced that 17 more patients have died, raising the death toll to 921.
