Sanctions imposed on North Korea for sinking a South Korean warship in 2010 no longer pose a threat to inter-Korean cooperation.
That's according to the Unification Ministry which told reporters Wednesday that previous administrations had loosened the so-called 'May 24 Measures' to the point where large parts were no longer effective.
The Lee Myung-bak administration had imposed sanctions which banned North Korean ships from entering South Korea waters and prohibited visits to the North except to Gaeseong Industrial Complex and Mount Geumgangsan.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Cheonan warship attack that killed 46 sailors.
