Harivansh Rai Bachchan, father of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was a noted Indian poet of the Nayi Kavita literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature. He was born in a Hindu Awadhi Indian Srivastava Kayastha family and breathed his last on January 18, 2003.
