Resistors in SERIES COMBINATION/Chapter name is Electricity and Measuring Instrument

INTRODUCTION:-

The word Electricity comes from Greek word meaning “AMBER” because electrically effects were classically produced by roughing “AMBER”. Like charges repels and unlike charges attracts.so this was the introduction and the following is notes

COMBINATION OF RESISTORS IN SERIES:-

If different resistors are joined together such that there is only one path for the flow of electric current then the combination of such resistance are called series combination.
Consider three resistors R 1 , R 2, R 3 which are connected in series. The current “i” 1st flows through resistance R 1 and enters R 2 and finally reaches R 3. In a series connection the current flows through only 1 path &it will be the same when it is passing through each resistors “I” is constant according to ohm’s law,
The potential difference across R 1:- R 1 is V 1=IR 1 _________ 1
The potential difference across R 2:- R 2 is V 2=IR 2 __________2
The potential difference across R 3:- R 3 is V 3=IR 3 ___________3
The potential difference V across in this series connection of resistors is V=V 1 + V 2+ v 3.
In case of series connection the equal resistant is RS. The total potential difference is V. Then VS=IRS
VS = V 1 + V 2 + V 3
IRS = IR 1 + IR 2 + IR 3 = IRS = I [R 1 + R 2 + R 3]
RS = R1 + R2 + R 3. For “n” no. of resistors connected in series the equivalent resistance
RS = R1 + R2 + R3 + ………………. + Rn.
So this is the notes, you can also prepare well by learning with notes mentioned above.
